so there’s this game catan, based off of the board game settlers of catan, and i downloaded it no xbox live arcade, i’ve been playing this game a lot, but its suddenly not working. when i try to start a singleplayer game, it just stays on the loading screen, it normally takes 2-3 seconds to load, but i gave up at around 3 minutes. And i know that there is nothing wrong with my connection because i had no trouble playing mw2 online, and i know catan is pretty obscure, but i was wondering if anybody else was encountering this problem.

my girlfriend has no experience with hardcore board/card games. i play games like settlers of catan, Magic the Gathering, fluxx, munchkin, chess and hive. i want to introduce her to games, i don’t mind learning a new one and then teach her. whats a good game to teach her?

My brother LOVES to play using the fish in Settlers of Catan. His favorite thing to do is save all of his fish and steal all of my cards at once during a turn. So every two or three rounds, he flips his fish over and steals between 3 and 5 cards from me all at once. Needless to say, this is very frustrating to me, constantly losing all of my cards. We play several times a week, but I have only ever won about 3 times, which I believe has a lot to do with being constantly targeted by my brother and his beloved fish. I have searched the internet, but cannot find any rule against this, which of course seems highly unfair to me. Can anyone tell me where to find an official rule that forbids his doing this?

It is hard to get at least three people to play settlers with me, let alone 4, 5 or 6. The online settlers comes at a cost does not include all the expansions.
I figure that a chess game changes dramatically in terms of tactics and strategy when not played over the board. Maybe settlers can take on a new dimension this way.
Just a thought.

Recently, I was playing Settlers of Catan (the board game) with my brother and uncle. In the game, they Ach Service both betrayed me and formed their own alliance, leaving me helpless and i lost the game. Before, they were both depending on me for resources in the game, but then they both turned against me and starting working together.
Ever since then, I have had really ill feelings. I can’t stand to look at either of them without feeling hurt and betrayed. I want to cry. How could they do this to me? Has anyone else felt like this?

They tell me "It’s just a game" but i know it’s much more than that. It has to be! What if they hate me?

On top of the Catan number Ach Dep tokens are little letter’s. What do these letters mean and how do i use them?

I just bought the Settlers of Catan app for my Ipod. The game seems fun, but I’m confused about one thing:

what determines whether or not you can build a settlement on a given space?

There seems to be little rhyme or reason as to why you can or can not build someplace, and the game’s tutorial isn’t all that helpful.
