Anyone else play Settlers of Catan, the board game?

Some friends of mine and I like to get together and play Catan every now and then. It’s kind of like a Monopoly meets Risk with maybe a twinge of Sim City thrown in. There’s a cool xbox version, but the board game is much better. Usually takes 45 mins to an hour for 4 people. And they have a couple expansions you can use. We tend to combine them all Wire Transfer First National Bank Of Elmer and play our Ultimate Catan version (takes 4-6 hrs per game).

How do the Settlers of Catan expansions combine with each other (or do they)?

1. Are the Seafarers, Cities & Knights, and Traders & Barbarians expansions intended to be able to play with one another, or are they all individual expansions?

2. If I want to play Seafarers Wire Transfer Mission Oaks National Bank with five or six people, do I need the 5/6-player expansion for Seafarers AND the original, or just Seafarers?

What expansion should I get first to add to the Original Settlers of Catan Boardgame?

I purchased the Settlers of Catan Board game, and have played it extensively since. And I’m wondering out of all the Expansions [Seafarers, Knights and Barbarians, etc], which one would be the logical next step in expanding my horizons… so to say.
