The Settlers of Catan Review – While today’s people can be considered as computer geeks because of the craze online games seem to be having, nothing can replace the unique fun and interaction you can have with people face-to-face when playing boardgames. Sure, Monopoly and Scrabble are fun, but they rather common. You would want to play something that’s original, but still have the same effectiveness with fun and entertainment to everyone playing. A board game that’s been catching some attention is the Settlers of Catan.

This short mockumentary follows Erik O’Connor’s sudden appreciation for German board game The Settlers of Catan. Written, directed, and edited by me (Dillon Geyselaers) for my senior thesis project at Manhattanville College. Enjoy!

Intrepid seafarers have landed on the coast of an uncharted island. Now begins the struggle for sovereignty over the new territory! Found settlements, build cities and roads, conduct trade and deploy your Knights. Confront your rivals; an island can only have one ruler! “Catan — The First Island” remains faithful to the original legendary classic board game created by Klaus Teuber. The game comes with a multiplayer mode for up to 4 players who can either connect their phones via bluetooth or just share one phone in hot-seat mode. If there are no other players available, various Catanians – each with their own individual strategies – will prove themselves worthy competitors.
