I decided to upload something different for a change. Might be extremely boring video, especially for those who are not playing Catan themselves. I had earlier posted one video of Catan one and half year ago and kind of surprised that how many hits it has even though it’s from even more boring single player. This time we have different board (Cosmos) and 4 human players playing, i think it’s pretty critical in this game not to have AI to play with, but real people. Awesome board game, and also PSN game. Definitely not for everybody but for those who like it’s probably one of the best purchases that can be done on PSN Store. (price is 6.99 $ / 4.95 €)

so there’s this game catan, based off of the board game settlers of catan, and i downloaded it no xbox live arcade, i’ve been playing this game a lot, but its suddenly not working. when i try to start a singleplayer game, it just stays on the loading screen, it normally takes 2-3 seconds to load, but i gave up at around 3 minutes. And i know that there is nothing wrong with my connection because i had no trouble playing mw2 online, and i know catan is pretty obscure, but i was wondering if anybody else was encountering this problem.

Feel free to ask about anything. I can go into more detail about reasons behind any particular decisions/moves I did if anyone is interested in discussing tactics or tips. On the Xbox 360 the Arcade version of Catan has it’s achievements all called ‘… of Catan’. So Builder, Ambassador, Professor etc. As I played past all of those and did extremely well playing the ranked matches a friend kept dubbing me with extra ‘… of Catan’ titles. Eventually it reached a point where I had a 0.9 win/loss ratio and declared myseld a Grandmaster of Catan. With 4 players and only 1 winner per game the average player will win 25% of their games and have a 0.333 win/loss ratio. (The 77% in the video reflects a 0.77 win/loss ratio) There were a lot of people when Catan came out who couldn’t handle a game where a good player still lost well over half their games. Especially if those games lasted 40 minutes or more. Also some just tried to glitch achievements by starting a game and quitting right away. This left a big problem for those trying to play because each game has to have 4 players so people quitting leaves AI opponents and if you are left with AI’s you don’t get credit for winning but you Bank Routing Number South Central Bank do for losing. So my win/loss ratio would have been even higher and would have been over 1.0. Which is …

There wasn’t many proper gameplay videos of PS3 version of Catan in Youtube yet, so i decided to put one up myself. I have never played this gem as a boardgame or on other platform, so the gameplay is kind of noobish, sorry about that. But this definitely looks like a real fun game and UI seems to work smoothly. There isn’t much with single player but 2-4 player online seems to work perfectly and there is “quick chat” with predefined text and also voice chat can be enabled so you can talk BS with other players while playing I’m not sure about other regions but European PSN Store has this for 4.99 €. Really good investment, replay value seems huge.
