There wasn’t many proper gameplay videos of PS3 version of Catan in Youtube yet, so i decided to put one up myself. I have never played this gem as a boardgame or on other platform, so the gameplay is kind of noobish, sorry about that. But this definitely looks like a real fun game and UI seems to work smoothly. There isn’t much with single player but 2-4 player online seems to work perfectly and there is “quick chat” with predefined text and also voice chat can be enabled so you can talk BS with other players while playing I’m not sure about other regions but European PSN Store has this for 4.99 €. Really good investment, replay value seems huge.

So Builder, Ambassador, Professor etc. As I played past all of those and did extremely well playing the ranked matches a friend kept dubbing me with extra ‘… of Catan’ titles. Eventually it reached a point where I had a 0.9 win/loss ratio and declared myseld a Grandmaster of Catan. With 4 players and only 1 winner per game the average player will win 25% of their games and have a 0.333 win/loss ratio. (The 77% in the video reflects a 0.77 win/loss ratio) There were a lot of people when Catan came out who couldn’t handle Swift Code Century Savings Bank a game where a good player still lost well over half their games. Especially if those games lasted 40 minutes or more. Also some just tried to glitch achievements by starting a game and quitting right away. This left a big problem for those trying to play because each game has to have 4 players so people quitting leaves AI opponents and if you are left with AI’s you don’t get credit for winning but you do for losing. Some friends of mine and I like to get together and play Catan every now and then. It’s kind of like a Monopoly meets Risk with maybe a twinge of Sim City thrown in. There’s a cool xbox version, but the board game is much better. Usually takes 45 mins to an hour for 4 people. And they have a couple expansions you can use. We tend to combine them all Wire Transfer First National Bank Of Elmer and play our Ultimate Catan version (takes 4-6 hrs per game).
